The Pilates Method is a body conditioning technique developed by Joseph Hubertus Pilates (1880-1967). This method was inspired by oriental and western techniques with the aim to connect mind and body and to stimulate that way the neuromuscular system. Pilates concentrate in the use of breath, movement control without unnecessary use of tension and abdominal work. All these make the technique effective and secure.
Exercises can be done either on a mat or with special equipment, such as the Reformer or a Cadillac, using the body weight as resistance in mat classes, or spring resistance with this equipment.
The classes can be adapted to each individual person from rehabilitation to advanced levels.
